There are many difficulties that parents and carers of children with autism face. There may be challenges that the child faces with speech and they do not learn in the same way as other children. There are also behavioural abnormalities that can make children act in a challenging way and they are also prone to outbursts. Parents in this situation may think that their only option to help their children is to give them medication or put them through behavioural therapy. However, this is not actually the case as changes to diet and lifestyle can also alleviate some of the most severe symptoms of autism.
There are many factors that are thought to lead to autism but it is an illness that begins in the brain. Brain function is thought to improve when a person consumes a diet that is high in nutrients.
Can Raw Food Help?
Autism may be able to be prevented even before the child has been born if the women eats a diet that is made up from 75% raw foods. It is not recommended that women should completely change their diets while they are pregnant without consulting their doctor first. The brain function of the foetus can increase if the mother increases the amount of vitamins and minerals that she consumes at the same time as cutting back on foods that contain high levels of toxins and preservatives.
What Are The Benefits Of Raw Foods In Treating Autism?
This diet of 75% raw food should be continued even after the child has been born. All children need to get the right amount of vitamins to help with their growth and development. Raw foods contain enzymes which help the body to absorb these vitamins more quickly.
Vitamins E and B3 are thought to be particularly important for helping to treat the symptoms of autism as they increase the flow of blood to the brain. These vitamins can be found in green vegetables. When children follow a raw diet they will also not be consuming refined sugar which is thought to contribute to autism.
Real Life Case Studies
There are many people that are happy to speak out about the benefits that they have seen since their children started to follow a raw diet. Miriam is one of these people. She has a brother that started to cure himself of autism by making changes to his diet. He did this when he was sixteen years old after suffering from extreme autism throughout his whole life. He has regular testing at the hospital which always show that he is completely clear from symptoms and this is quite an achievement when it is considered that for a period he was completely non-verbal.
Gina tells the story of her son who seemed healthy until he was one year old when he stopped talking. His symptoms became even worse after he had his routine vaccinations and he also began to suffer with infections and fevers for which he was prescribed antibiotics. She began to realise that these medications were not really helping and made changes to his diet. She introduced fermented food and drink that were rich in probiotics and these made a huge difference to his health and these changes could be seen almost immediately as soon as his new diet started.
Are There Any Other Alternative Methods That Can Help Autistic Children?
The University Of Michigan are working on an environment that can provide autistic children with the tactile experience that they need to help them feel calmer and this can also act as a form of therapy. The prototype has been called PLAYSCAPE and is a pavilion that has fabric stretched over it to form something similar to a tent. There are sounds and images that are projected onto a screen when the fabric is touched. This establishes a link between the child’s motor skills and the audio and visual feedback that they receive, allowing them to judge the amount of force that they need to apply to get the feedback that they want.
There is also a company called Nuheara Ltd that is exploring how the use of technology can help children who have difficulties concentrating. This is being carried out in conjunction with an Australian university. They are currently awaiting final ethical approval on two research studies involving IQbuds™ to trial with children and adults who have such challenges. They claim IQbuds used to help solve life changing problems by people of all ages between 8 and 80.
